Paint work can become damaged or discoloured by numerous contaminants. You may be familiar with the usual tar, tree sap and bug squash but other contaminants exist which can be much more difficult ro remove. Fine spots of paint or varnish from neighbours painting fences or walls can be carried on the wind and literally cover your car in spots that are nigh on impossible to remove.
Often these can be scraped off with a fingernail but not only would this be a soul destroying job it could inflict scratches onto your paintwork. Orange spots that worsen after washing are a classic example of iron fallout. These can come from a car standing near a train track or industrial process. Red hot iron fillings can shower a car and each tiny filing is hot enough to embed itself in the cars paintwork. The outer tip of the filling will rust and cause the orange spot.
The above contamination types can be removed either through careful and extensive claying, use of tar and glue removers and also acidic fallout removers. This part of the process must be followed up by a light machine polish to remove any marring that the more aggressive claying can inflict. A coat of wax or sealant and your car will be returned to its former glory!
